FROM THE ALABAMA LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY
MONTGOMERY – On Thursday, June 29, Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation into an officer-involved shooting, which involved Troopers within ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division.
ALEA Troopers initiated a traffic stop at approximately 2:26 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, on a stolen 2018 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup, on Interstate 65 southbound at the 185 mile marker in Autauga County.

The driver of the Dodge Ram attempted to elude Troopers and subsequently a pursuit ensued. During the course of the pursuit, the driver of the Dodge pickup caused two traffic crashes before eventually crashing and overturning at approximately 2:38 p.m. near the 173 mile marker in Montgomery County. Gunfire was exchanged between an occupant in the Dodge pickup and ALEA Troopers. One subject is deceased, and a second subject was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. No officers were injured over the course of the incident.
Nothing further is available as the investigation remains ongoing. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
