Tony Aldridge, of Tallassee, jailed for Sexual Abuse of Child under the age of 12

FROM CHIEF P.K. JOHNSON

MILLBROOK POLICE CHIEF

On May 24, 2023, detectives with the Millbrook Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit initiated an investigation in response to a parent’s complaint that an acquaintance had engaged in inappropriate activity with her minor child. Upon completing their preliminary investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for the alleged offender’s arrest.

On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, the Macon County Sheriff’s Department was able to make contact with the alleged offender in their jurisdiction, at the request of Millbrook detectives. Macon County officials detained and held the alleged offender, Tony Aldridge, 37, Tallassee resident, until he could be extradited to Elmore County.

Aldridge was taken into custody by Millbrook police and transported to the Millbrook Police Department, where he was placed under arrest, being charged with Sexual Abuse of a Minor Child Less Than 12 Years Old. Aldridge was transported to the Elmore County Jail, where he remains under a $20,000 bond.

Because this case involves a minor child, I’m limited in what details that I can discuss, as it pertains to the victim or circumstances involved. That said, if the allegations in this case are true, there’s absolutely no circumstances where it’s permissible or ok for an adult to touch a child in a sexual or inappropriate manner. Fortunately, in this case, the victim disclosed to an adult that this incident occurred, who made sure that the incident was reported to law enforcement. I can’t begin to encourage parents enough, please have these discussions with your children. Make sure that they understand that it’s never ok to remain silent if something questionable or inappropriate occurs.

They need to understand that it’s not normal or acceptable for someone to touch them or make inappropriate comments to them. As parents we need to make sure that our children know that it is ok and imperative that they talk to us or a trusted adult anytime they feel uncomfortable about something.

I’d like to thank the Macon County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance in this case and commend our Criminal Investigations Unit for their diligence in pursuing those who would harm or mistreat our citizens, particularly our children.
