The Wetumpka Police Department has arrested an Elmore man, identified as John Carter, for multiple charges. They include Transmitting obscene material to a child by a computer, Facilitating the travel of a child and Sexual Abuse 2nd offense upgraded to a felony.
Wetumpka Police Chief Greg Benton said information is limited at this time, as this investigation is still active.
John, 31, was booked into the Elmore County Jail today at 12:34 p.m. His current bond is set at $105,000 Cash.
Chief Benton told the EAN that his department was contacted Tuesday by the alleged victim’s father. The alleged victim is under the age of 16, Chief Benton said.
An investigation was launched by Wetumpka PD during which cell phone footage was recovered and evidence also relates to the use of Snap Chat. From there, detectives interviewed the alleged victim and found enough evidence to press charges.
