Once again Autauga County officials and first responders hosted hundreds of second graders at the Courthouse Friday, for the annual Law Day event.

Young students learned a lot, but also had quite a bit of fun as they took part in a mock trial proceeding concerning the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf.

They toured the courthouse, visited with various officials such as law enforcement, fire department and court. This is always a great event, and highly anticipated each year. Thank you to all participating schools and officials who made it happen.

Autauga County Probate Judge Kim Kervin said, “For the past 20 years, we have celebrated Law Day in Autauga county. It is one of the highlights of the year at our local courthouse! It’s a time for courthouse team members, lawyers, judges, elected officials, and local law enforcement and fire department heroes to educate and entertain local 2nd grade students. Students get a tour of the courthouse, learn about fire safety, stranger danger, gun safety, see the trial of BB Wolf v. Curly Pig, and learn about voting. The theme of Law Day is “Every Vote Counts” and recently the Autauga County Commission signed a Proclamation recognizing May 5, 2023 as Law Day in Autauga county.”
