On Sunday, April 2nd First United Methodist of Wetumpka held their annual Community Easter Egg hunt with around 100 families attending. A few giveaways were offered for those that attended. The Easter story was told and over 1,000 eggs were hidden outside of the church for children to find. Hot dogs, chips and drinks were also provided for all who attended.

Matt Albritton, pastor for the church, led the event in a prayer. Michelle Abernathy, children’s pastor, and Jamie Farquhar, youth Pastor, told the Easter story and brought out resurrection eggs to show the children.

Resurrection eggs have trinkets inside them that help tell the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Once the story was over, the egg hunts were divided into different age groups

Each age group had a golden egg to find, which had plenty of candy for them to enjoy!

“We had a great time sharing the story of Easter with our community in a fun way,” said Abernathy. She continued, “The resurrection eggs were a hit and everybody loves a good egg hunt! Jamie Farquhar and I are so grateful to all of our awesome volunteers that helped show God’s love. We can’t wait to do this again next year!”
