The Prattville City Council met on Tuesday, Feb. 21 for a regular meeting. During the meeting Mayor Bill Gillespie discussed new businesses that will soon be coming to the area.

During the Mayor’s reports, Gillespie discussed Guardian Credit Union moving its headquarters to Prattville.

“We had several positive economic developments progressing in the City of Prattville,” Gillespie said.

“This one can be seen from the interstate near Bass Pro and PCA, Guardian Credit Union,” Gillespie said. “The new 5700 square foot headquarters will be located off of Old Farm Lane. The headquarters brings 100 employees to the City of Prattville, along with an estimated 24-million-dollar investment,” he said.

In addition to Guardian Credit Union moving to the city, Gillespie also announced another multimillion-dollar investment to the city.

“Also, the Department of Public Health is working on a 1300 square foot testing lab expansion. An additional estimated 10-million-dollar investment.”

A popular fast-food chain will soon be coming to the city.

“There has been a lot of conversation about a new eatery in the very near future. All I can say is, Prattville get ready to welcome Whataburger,” Gillespie said. “It will be coming to Fairview Avenue where the old Fazoli’s location used to be.”

Gillespie also announced that the The Mill in downtown Prattville will see some of its doors open next week.

“The first move-ins for The Mill, our historical Daniel Pratt Buildings, are scheduled for next Friday, March 3,” Gillespie said.

Despite a slowing national economy, the economic growth in Prattville remains strong, according to the Mayor.

“It goes to show that during these difficult times, we still have entities that want to invest in Prattville,” he said.

While the list of new economic development in the city is long, Gillespie fully expects more growth in the future for the city.

“We’ve had a lot of positive progress in Prattville, and there is so much more to come,” he said.
