With the coming of a New Year, please be Safe and Responsible in Your Decisions

BY SARAH STEPHENS

OWNER OF ELMORE/AUTAUGA NEWS

Today is the last day of the year, and at midnight many will be celebrating the beginning of 2023.

Perhaps you will welcome the new year in your Jammies, in the comfort of your home. Maybe you have family gatherings or parties to attend. There are a lot of events at local restaurants and bars around our area.

However you choose to celebrate, please stay safe and be responsible.

There will be additional law enforcement presence on the roadways tonight, so keep that in mind if you will be out and about. We want everyone to welcome the New Year alive and well. Sadly, that is not always the case. Be responsible and be safe. Have a designated driver ready if you will be partaking in adult beverages.

Many people will be setting off fireworks this evening. Please have adult supervision, and act responsibly. Area officers will respond to a lot of fireworks calls, so be respectful.

Remember your pets tonight if loud noises can upset them. Tomorrow there will be a lot of posts about missing pets who ran when the fireworks start. Make a plan now to keep your pets safe and secure.

The EAN will be monitoring the area, and we hope there is nothing but GOOD news to report.

From the EAN crew to all of our readers and advertisers, Happy New Year! Thank you for supporting us through the past year, and we have a lot of great new to share with you in the coming year. Community News Matters! You Matter!

Please be safe tonight and over the weekend in whatever you do to celebrate the New Year.
