The City of Prattville is excited to honor Andrea Armstrong as Grand Marshal of the 2022 Christmas Parade. Ms. Armstrong is from Prattville, but has travelled around the world to become a World Champion in Women’s Weightlifting.

Andrea Armstrong competed in the IPL Drug tested world championship hosted in Gold Coast Australia. She competed in the 52kg weight class winning first place in the open women’s and junior category. She also won best female lifter in open women’s and junior. This award is given to one woman and one man for master, open, and junior. She set a deadlift world record at 391 lbs., squatted 336 lbs., and bench pressed 192 lbs.

Andrea got into weightlifting and wrestling after her father, Andy Armstrong, passed away in 2014. After school she did boxing and MMA and in 2019 met her powerlifting coach, Sterling Holt, at a local gym. Since then, she has been on a journey to becoming one of the best power lifters in the world. “My grandfather, Ed Armstrong, and my mother, Cynthia Armstrong, are my main supports; they are what inspires me to stay strong. I hope to inspire men, women, boys and girls of all ages to start weightlifting. It is good for your mental and physical health also it’s cool to be strong. This world is too tough to not be strong,” said Armstrong.

The Prattville Christmas Parade is fun for the entire family, with marching bands, dancers, and Christmas floats with candy and trinkets for the crowd. The parade will begin at the corner of 4th and Court Streets by the Autauga County Court House, travel Court Street to Main Street through the Shops of Downtown, turn right onto Northington Street, left onto Doster Road, ending at Stanley Jensen Football Stadium.
