PANDA: Providing Alzheimer’s N’ Dementia Assistance Meeting is Nov. 14 in Montgomery

From Stephanie Holmes

PANDA Project Director

Central Alabama Aging Consortium

I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you about a new program, the PANDA Project and also to invite you to an important event Monday, November 14, 2022.  PANDA is an acronym for Providing Alzheimer’s N’ Dementia Assistance.  The PANDA Project was piloted in 2019 by Middle Alabama Area Agency on Aging (M4A) in Shelby County and was a huge success.  Central Alabama Aging Consortium saw the need in our service area and we were fortunate to be awarded the same grant in 2021, serving people in Autauga, Elmore, and Montgomery Counties.

The goal of PANDA is to enable individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias, including those that live alone, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and dementia, and their Caregivers to continue to help reduce critical incidents, such as falls, hospitalizations, emergency room visits and overall health costs. The goal is to allow individuals to remain in their homes.

We provide People with Dementia (PWD), People with Intellectual Disabilities (IDD), and Caregivers with direct support in Autauga, Elmore, and Montgomery Counties.

Please join us for our first FREE In-Person Dementia Education Workshop, hosted by Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, Monday, November 14 200 at Faulkner University, 5345 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, Alabama, 6109.
