FUMC of Wetumpka Celebrates Fall with Festival, Food and Candy!

FROM FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH OF WETUMPKA

First United Methodist Church of Wetumpka held their annual Fall Festival on Wednesday, October 26.  Crowds gathered on the front lawn of the church from 5:00-7:00 p.m. An estimated 300 people from our community enjoyed hot dogs, chips, and lots of candy.  The kids (and adults) loved having the Frios truck on hand to enjoy their favorite pop.

Kids participated in several games, including Cake Walk, Go Fish, Face Painting, and Cornhole.  The event was open to the community and there were several first-time visitors that joined in the festivities. Debbie Barnes, who worked the registration booth said, “I loved seeing those sweet kids dressed in their costumes and having fun playing and laughing.”

Door prizes were given to two different families whose names were drawn from the registration booth. Prizes included gift certificates to Grumpy Dog, a cutting board from River Rose, sweet treats, and other goodies.

The event is headed up every year by the children’s pastor, Michelle Abernathy, and youth pastor, Jamie Farquhar. “This is a great community event that we enjoy putting on every year.  We want the people in Wetumpka and neighboring towns to experience God’s love while having a fun, safe time. We are so grateful to all of our amazing volunteers that helped us with our Fall Festival.  A big thank you to our local businesses, River Rose and Grumpy Dog for their donations for our gift baskets. We can’t wait to do this again next year,” Abernathy said.
