Child’s Place Playground at Pratt Park Ribbon Cutting is Oct. 27

The City of Prattville’s Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Child’s Place Playground at Pratt Park on Thursday, October 27th, at 4 pm. We are excited to celebrate the completion of the all-inclusive play area and the first Game Time “Stadium Playground” constructed in Alabama

FROM THE CITY OF PRATTVILLE

The new playground features ten unique challenges. The central play structure has an ADA-accessible ramp that reaches the top of a 7’ deck height that ends at the Music Nest, a collection of several types of interactive musical elements. The surfacing at the main play area and the preschool area is a universally accessible poured-in-place rubber safety surfacing that allows children and adults access to the play equipment.

Everyone will enjoy integrated sail shades on the play structure, umbrella shades with benches for seating, and a large rectangular shade over the swings. There is also an entry archway replicating the original design from 1996.

The children of Prattville will have their choice of multiple slides to keep them playing for hours. With two areas for different ages (2-5 and 5-12), parents can feel safe that the younger children have their play area to explore while the older kids enjoy their play structure without worry. The placement of the equipment was carefully thought out to minimize blind spots and maintain a line of sight throughout the entire playground.

A new restroom is also being constructed near the playground and will be complete by the end of November. For more information about Pratt Park, or any park in Prattville, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (334) 595-0800.
