The Stanhope Elmore High School Band will be providing desserts to compliment the Millbrook Men’s Club Annual Labor Day BBQ items. The Millbrook Men’s Club is a community service organization that provides support to many groups within the community. President Brannon Bowman explains that “We support area athletic teams, make contributions to all the area libraries, provide scholarships for athletic and academic excellence, and we are proud to continue our support of the Stanhope Elmore Marching Band.” The SEHS Band approached the MMC about a way they could take part in the extremely successful Labor Day BBQ, and baked goods were a natural complement to this event.

The MMC has supported the SEHS Band in the past by contributing new uniforms and equipment, and they hope “This will be an opportunity that other members in the community can set up and serve our wonderful town and its many citizens side-by-side with the men’s club. We hope the band will see great success,” Bowman tells us.

The band plans to use funds raised to help purchase instruments, provide for instrument repairs, and help with new uniforms. All money goes straight back to Millbrook students and their education of music. Stephanie Schroeder, President of the SEHS Marching Band Booster Club, explains “Most people don’t know that it costs around $57,000 a year to run the band program. These funds will help provide for the students to participate in band, go to competitions, and help sustain the year round program. All this is for the kids of Stanhope Elmore.” The students are very excited to be participating with the MMC and hope this fundraiser is one of their biggest to date. All baked good items can be purchased on a donation basis the day of the BBQ, Monday, September 5. For barbecue items such as pulled pork and camp stew, citizens are highly encouraged to preorder by visiting the Millbrook Men’s Club site. Pre-ordered items can be picked up at the Millbrook Sports Complex from 7:00 – 9:00 A.M. For all others, it is first come, first served with walkup orders beginning at 6:00 A.M. on September 5. Get there early, because the food items have been known to sell out before 9! The Band will be there from 6:00 A.M. until they sell out. Hope to see you there!
