Man Shot Multiple times during Argument in Elmore County fighting for his life; Suspect in custody

One man is in custody and another hospitalized after a shooting today around 5:45 p.m. in Elmore County according to Elmore County Sheriff Bill Franklin.

The shooting victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds from a .22 caliber weapons in the yard of a residence in the 3200 block of Hwy. 143 about a mile north of Speigner Prison.

The victim is identified as Diondrick Nolen, 22. In custody is Franklin Hayes, 23. He has pending charges that are expected to include attempted murder and felonious assault. Investigators are staying in touch with the hospital in Montgomery where the shooting victim has life threatening injuries.

“From what we can understand at this time, these two got into a physical fight, and the suspect (Hayes) left to obtain a weapon. He came back and fired possibly seven times hitting the victim multiple times. We are waiting to see the victim’s condition and how it progresses at this time. Charges could be modified.”

No bond has been set at this time for the suspect.
