High School sports kicked off this week across the state and area schools were ready to shine. Volleyball, Cross Country, Cheer, Band, and Football all started their seasons and after nearly two and a half years of Covid, it seems crowds are back at full capacity. Gymnasiums were filled for the volleyball matches while stadiums were packed to the brim to see football and band halftime performances.

Football Updates:

Autaugaville vs RC Hatch, Autaugaville winning 24-18

Holtville vs Fultondale, Holtville winning 55-8

Prattville vs Foley, Prattville winning 34-20

Prattville Christian Academy vs Billingsley, PCA winning 25-14

Stanhope Elmore vs Shades Valley, Stanhope Elmore losing 20-13

Wetumpka vs Jefferson Davis, Wetumpka winning 27-10

Elmore County vs Marbury, Elmore County winning 35-17

Volleyball Updates:

Prattville hosted Marbury, Prattville JV won their sets 2-0, and Marbury Varsity won their sets 3-0 over Prattville

Holtville JV won against Montevallo 2-1, while Holtville Varsity lost 3-0 against Montevallo

Edgewood won their first tournament of the year while participating in the Glenwood Tournament

#2 State Ranked Prattville Christian Academy fell to Auburn in their first match, but are playing in a tournament this weekend

Wetumpka lost their Varsity matches 0-3 against Montgomery Academy

Autaugaville and Billingsley both start their seasons on Tuesday, August 23, while Stanhope Elmore and Elmore County begin theirs on Thursday, August 25
