Elmore County ARES to take Part in 2022 Field Day June 25 at EOC

From Warren Whitby

Elmore County ARES is a volunteer organization affiliated with the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES). ARES is part of the national amateur radio advocacy organization American Radio Relay League (ARRL).

Volunteers in our group work closely with Elmore County Emergency Management to provide alternative communications and damage reporting during and immediately after disasters.  We also practice and train constantly.

ARRL Field Day is an annual nationwide exercise, held the last full weekend of June, that tests the ability of amateur radio operators to set up equipment and communicate under adverse conditions.

Elmore County ARES will be participating in 2022 Field Day.  We will be operating at the Elmore County Emergency Operations Center (EOC), 8917 US 231 in Wetumpka, on Saturday, June 25.

Setup will begin at 9 a.m., nationwide radio operations begin at 1 p.m., and we will operate until about 5 p.m., although the nationwide event continues until 1 p.m. Sunday June 26.  All amateur radio operators, and those interested in Amateur Radio are welcome to come out.

Please come in the front door, and into the Jones Conference room, to the right.

Please ignore the “Authorized Personnel Only” sign on the driveway to the EOC– if you’re coming to Field Day, you are in the right place.
