I am running for Autauga County School Board, District 1 because I want to create solutions. For more than 25 years, I have enjoyed the opportunity to serve children and their families in the classroom, through collaboration with school systems, state and federal government, higher education, business and community partners.
Currently I serve as an Assistant Professor at Faulkner University. Prior to that I was the Director of the Alabama Reading Initiative where I worked to implement the Alabama Literacy Act, hire regional support staff, and operate in close collaboration with other section of the Alabama Department of Education. Prior to employment at the Alabama State Department of Education, I was the Senior Director/ Deputy Secretary at the Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education, where I led departmental efforts and coordinated all aspects of research and program evaluation and oversaw professional learning and efforts concerning Higher Education.
I have managed local, state and federal grants and funding streams.
Current and previous job responsibilities and professional training have enabled me to demonstrate success in developing, implementing and monitoring successful programs for children. As a school board member, I will be committed to public involvement and dedicated to ensuring that Autauga County has the best schools in the State of Alabama.
