Shytavious Davis, of Montgomery, arrested for Identity Theft; Suspect was employee of Millbrook McDonald’s where the alleged theft occurred

FROM CHIEF P.K. JOHNSON

MILLBROOK POLICE DEPARTMENT

If you have used a debit card at the Millbrook McDonald’s recently, you may want to check your bank statement for any irregular activity. A Montgomery woman who was employed at the store has been arrested for allegedly photographing a debit card and is now charged with Identity Theft.

On May 7, 2022, a complainant reported that someone had unlawfully used their debit card information to make purchases at various businesses without authorization to do so. The victim stated that they had visited the local McDonald’s, where they paid for their purchase utilizing their debit card at the drive-thru window.

During their investigation, Millbrook detectives were able to ascertain, with the help of surveillance video, that a McDonalds employee, later identified as Shytavious Davis, a 20-year-old Montgomery resident, took pictures of the alleged victim’s debit card prior to returning the card following the purchase.

On May 12, 2022, the alleged offender, Davis, was placed under arrest, being charged with one count of Identity Theft. Davis was processed and transported to the Elmore County Jail without incident.

I’m extremely proud of the work done by our patrol officers who dealt with the initial complaint as well as the work done by our Criminal Investigations Unit, in following up on this case. From the initial complaint to the arrest of the alleged offender, they covered all their bases, worked with management at the business to ascertain who had access to the victim’s information, collected the necessary information, which facilitated this arrest.

After speaking with our detectives, I want to take this opportunity to reach out to the public. Anyone that may have visited our local McDonald’s on or about May 6th and used a debit or credit card to make a purchase, we would encourage that you review your account for any unauthorized purchases that may have occurred. If so, please contact the police department and report the offense. This case remains active, as we want to ensure that we don’t have any additional victims.

In closing, we strongly recommend reviewing your debit and credit accounts on a regular basis, to ensure that there are no irregularities. It’s a shame that you have to do that, but unfortunately, that’s the world that we live in today. People don’t have the same value systems that most of us grew up with. Hardworking people shouldn’t have to deal with things like this. It’s a shame.
