PCA Boys, Girls Soccer Teams defeated by Trinity

PRATTVILLE — The Trinity boys’ and girls’ soccer teams both defeated Prattville Christian Academy on Thursday at Panther Stadium and advanced to the state soccer tournament in Huntsville.

The boys defeated the Panthers 4-1, while the girls won 5-1. It marks the first time in school history the boys and girls have advanced to the state tournament at the same time.

The Trinity girls, defending 1A-3A state champions, also reached the state tournament in 2001, 2007 and 2018. The Trinity boys reached the state tournament in 2002 and 2004.

In the girls’ game, Katherine Warren scored a pair of goals for the Wildcats, while Mary Alice Sasser, Ella Wiswall and Hannah Hert each scored a goal.

Ansley Claire Addison and Ella Hale each had an assist.

Avery Rogers scored the Panthers’ lone goal as PCA ended the season with a record of 7-7-1.

The Trinity girls will face the winner of Saturday’s match between Westminster-Oak Mountain and Bayside Academy in the semifinals on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Huntsville Soccer Complex.

In the boys’ game, Jackson Champion had a hat trick and Will Owen added a goal to help the Wildcats qualify for the state tournament for the first time in 18 years.

Grayden Flowers and Norris Pemberton had assists for Trinity. Goalkeeper Joe Handey had six saves.

Cade Segars scored the Panthers’ lone goal on an assist from Trey Barkley as PCA ended the season with a record of 7-8-1.

The Trinity boys (18-3) will face the winner of Saturday’s match between Westminster-Oak Mountain and Bayside Academy in the semifinals on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Huntsville Soccer Complex.
