Terrell King

FROM CHIEF P.K. JOHNSON

MILLBROOK POLICE DEPARTMENT

On May 5, 2022, at approximately 1:37 AM, Millbrook police officers responded to a business located in the 600 block of Deatsville Highway, with regard to a burglary that had just occurred. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the business had been forcibly entered. Officers cleared the building and no suspects were present at the scene.

The owner of the business reported that an undetermined amount of US currency and assorted merchandise was taken during the burglary. Officers were able to review surveillance video and relayed suspect information and details of the offense to surrounding law enforcement agencies.

Later this morning, officers of the Prattville Police Department observed a suspicious vehicle in their jurisdiction. Officers made contact with the vehicle, which was occupied by four individuals, three adults and an infant child. During the traffic stop, officers observed the clothing and subjects occupying the vehicle matched the information received from the Millbrook Police Department, as it related to the recent burglary. Officers also observed evidence that was later determined to have been taken from the business.

The infant child was turned over to a responsible party and the three adults were turned over to the Millbrook Police Department. The adults, identified as Jaelund Woods, a 23 year-old Selma resident, Terrell L. King, a 21 year-old Selma resident, and Shemeria James, a 25 year-old Selma resident, were transported to the Millbrook Police Department, where they were placed under arrest pursuant to investigation. They were charged as follows:

Shemeria James

Woods was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Theft of Property 1st Degree, and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree.

King was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Theft of Property 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Criminal Tampering 2nd Degree, and Obstructing a Governmental Operation.

James was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Theft of Property 1st Degree, and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree.

The alleged offenders were transported to the Elmore County Jail, where they remain pending warrants being obtained and served. This case remains an active investigation.

This is an example of outstanding police work and the great working relationships that we have with our law enforcement partners in the surrounding area. Our responding officers were able to get descriptions of the alleged offenders, along with pertinent information related to the offense to surrounding law enforcement agencies.

Prattville police officers were able to observe the vehicle and after making contact with the vehicle’s occupants, they quickly ascertained that these individuals were possibly involved in the burglary that we were actively investigating and notified us that they had the vehicle and its occupants detained.

In speaking with our detectives, it appears that these individuals will be facing similar charges with other surrounding jurisdictions. Terrell King was apparently out on bond on multiple felony charges at the time of his arrest this morning.

JAelund Woods

Our detectives have been contacted by multiple jurisdictions concerning these individuals and are in the process in assisting them in any way that we are able. That’s the message I want to drive home here!

Criminals don’t have jurisdictional boundaries. They roam up and down the interstate, crossing county and city jurisdictional boundaries, with the thought process that they will commit their crime, get back on the interstate and return home with impunity. That’s not the case.

Law enforcement, particularly the agencies in the River Region do an outstanding job of networking, sharing information and resources. In short, we talk!

We’re all on the same team and we work together on a daily basis to apprehend and arrest these criminal offenders each day. I want to thank the Prattville Police Department for their assistance in this case and we look forward to continuing to work with our law enforcement partners to apprehend and prosecute those people that commit these criminal acts.
