Prattville 5, Smiths Station 0

SMITHS STATION — Jessica Cord was dominant on the mound, allowing just two hits while striking out 11 in seven innings to give the Lions a shutout win over Smiths Station on Wednesday.

Cord went 1 for 3 at the plate, including a solo home run, while recording her 100th strikeout of the year in the circle.

Sarah Grace Jones and Jayden Kendrick also had home runs for the Lions. Jones was 1 for 2 and drove in a pair of runs, while Kendrick was 1 for 2 with an RBI. Kaylee Robles went 1 for 3, stole a base and scored a run and Pyper Castro was 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Prattville (17-12) will travel to Dothan on Thursday for their final area game.

Brew Tech 4, Tallassee 3 (8)

Peyton Garrett singled on a 2-2 pitch to score Erica Ellis from second base in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Rams an extra-inning area victory over the Tigers on Tuesday.

The Rams battled from behind most of the evening, getting a solo home run from Taniyah Brown in the bottom of the first after the Tigers had taken a quick 2-0 lead. The Rams tied the game in the second inning on an RBI single by Hailey Mullins, only to watch the Tigers score a run to regain the lead.

Garrett’s bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the sixth tied the game at 3-3.

In the circle, Brown allowed just four hits and one earned run in eight innings while striking out 11.

GIRLS SOCCER

St. James 4, Prattville 3

Katie Brightwell had a pair of goals and a pair of assists to lead the Trojans to a 4-3 win over the 7A Lions at Carlisle Field on Wednesday night.

McKenzie Turner had a goal and an assist for St. James. Haley Brightwell added a goal and Mary Grace Hixon had an assist.

The Trojans’ last regular season game will be Friday at Indian Springs.
