Elmore County officials and crews are still out surveying damage from a suspected tornado that impacted Elmore County this morning.

Some of the downed trees have already been removed by crews and/or volunteers.

Elmore County Emergency Management Agency Director Keith Barnett said there was some level of damage reported from Harrogate Springs Road in Wetumpka all the way to Hwy. 229 in Kent.

“It ran across most of the county, and lifted briefly,” Barnett said of the damage from the storm. “For the most part we have trees down, some reports of them on houses, along with some minor structural damage to a few houses. But we have no reports of any injuries at this point.”

Power outages were reported across the county, as well as some in Prattville. There were lines down, many brought down by falling trees across the area.

“Our crews are still out evaluating at this time. But as of now, Fire Tower Road as well as parts of Jasmine Trail. There are still areas we are cutting into to survey damage,” Barnett said.

Issues from the storm began early this morning with a deluge of rain, thunder and frequent lightning across much of our area. A tornado warning was issued around 11 a.m. for the Wetumpka area and eastward.

In Millbrook, Police Chief P.K. Johnson reported minor flooding during the heaviest part of the rain, but reported the levels have dropped significantly. There was also a large tree down on Paul Court, Johnson said.
