VEX IQ CHALLENGE Kicks Off first of four-part Series for Elmore County Students

Millbrook Middle School, along with Airport Road Intermediate School, hosted the first of a 4-part series of VEX IQ challenges at MMS on Friday, January 7th for 3rd-8th grade Robotics teams in Elmore county. Millbrook Middle, Holtville Middle, Wetumpka Middle, Eclectic Middle, Redland Elementary, and Airport Road Intermediate robotics teams came together to have a night of excitement, collaboration, and competition. There were 17 teams in the district that competed.

The competition was held in Millbrook Middle School’s new STEM lab in the library. The new state of the art STEM lab was built in the library this past summer, thanks to our Board of Education and Dr. Richard Dennis, Superintendent for Elmore County Schools.

“This was an excellent opportunity for us to share with our parents and community stakeholders our passion for STEM education and highlight are students growing talents in coding and robotics,” Millbrook Middle School Principal Sean Kreauter said..

“Millbrook Middle School has been in the forefront of STEM education in the county and our Middle School director, Mrs. Ayena Jackson, as well as our STEM director, Mr. Tracy Wright, have been instrumental in expanding the STEM program throughout Elmore County,” Kreauter continued.

The next three parts of the series will take place at Millbrook Middle School on January 21st, January 28th, and January 31st. The YouTube viewing link is https://youtu.be/1f43b3vCB4k for the Vex IQ challenges. Kreauter said he excited about the future of STEM projects and learning in Elmore County.
