Around 6:30 p.m. Millbrook Officers attempted to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area Cobbs Ford. The vehicle sped off beginning a high speed pursuit on Cobbs Ford Road, turning left onto Main Street headed north. Adding to the danger, the driver of the vehicle reportedly turned of the headlights to the vehicle in an attempt to make a getaway but officers were on their tail.
From there the suspect vehicle went through the intersection at Hwy. 14 and continued north on Deatsville Highway. At the end of Deatsville Hhighway, the vehicle continued onto Cotton Lane. The suspect vehicle lost control and struck a tree, according to Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson.
Two suspects, since identified as juveniles from Montgomery, attempted to flee on foot, but did not make it far, Johnson said. Both are in custody. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Montgomery earlier today. A tow truck was called to remove the vehicle, and the juveniles were taken to the Millbrook Police Department. More information will be forthcoming tomorrow on the particular charges involved.
“There are no injuries, and my officers are okay,” Chief Johnson told the Elmore/Autauga News.
Johnson said his department has already been busy on this New Year’s Eve.
