Millbrook Baptist Church held its annual Fall Festival on October 31st from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. located at 3431 Browns Road in Millbrook, Alabama. There were 750 people in attendance which included the 50 volunteer workers that were there as well.
Games, train rides, horseback riding, a bouncy house, cake walks for the adults, and a new added cake walk for the children was this year. Hot dogs, chips, drinks, as well as boiled peanuts and some delicious popcorn was given to everyone that attended the event. All games and food were FREE for everyone. A new added feature this year was a Prayer Tent for anyone who wanted someone to pray with them and wanted information about the church.
Pastor Mike Ingram invited Carlos Contreras from Publo De Dios church to pray with them if they are not able to speak fluent English. Publo De Dios church is located behind New Vision Church in Prattville, Alabama.
Debbie Taylor, who is the organist for Millbrook Baptist Church, organized this entire event. It takes a lot of work and patience for this event to run smoothly at the fall festival, but Taylor had everything organized and 50 dedicated volunteers were also helping out at the event as well. Taylor is also in charge of the Children Musicals that the church does throughout the year. Ingram has been a pastor for the church for 14 years. From what Ingram and Taylor remembered, these fall festivals have been going on for 35 years.
“I want to thank the community for coming out and we appreciate having a part of their life by attending our fall festival at Millbrook Baptist Church. I’m very thankful for Debbie Taylor and all of the volunteers that came out and worked hard at this event,” said Ingram. The church family donated the candy for the event. There were over 2,000 lbs. of candy donated to the fall festival. Volunteers came early and were setting everything up at 1 p.m. on day of the event.
“This is a very safe Christian environment. It is my first time here at the Fall Festival with my son who is ten-years-old. I have not felt comfortable because of the COVID pandemic, but I truly felt comfortable and I felt the love here with my son. My son does the Alabama Virtual Academy at Eufaula City School district and does not go to a in person school. My son was very happy to come to this event, play games and finally enjoy himself around other children his age,” said LaVelma Lindsey.
