On Wednesday, October 27th the Millbrook First United Church hosted fun Halloween activities for little ones up to high school children inside the church building. Over 80 kids came to this fun, and festive event. Dinner was provided for FREE for all children from 5:30 6:15 p.m. Adults were able to purchase dinner for $8. Dinner menu consisted of spaghetti, garlic bread, salad and a brownie for dessert. Activities were from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.

For 5th grade and younger, activities included the movie “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” a fun dance party and trick-or-treating that was all indoors. The sanctuary also had Charlie Brown themed decorations for the children to enjoy as well. Costumes were not necessary but there were children who participated. Bags were provided for all of the children to receive candy as well.

The youth group, which consists of 6th grade to 12th grade, had a great turn out as well. A dance contest, costume contest and a mummified contest were just a few things the older children enjoyed. The mummified contest was a competition between the Jr. High and the senior high students. The Jr. High students won the competition. Snacks/drinks were provided by the youth action team of Millbrook First United Methodist Church. The youth group also enjoyed trick-or-treating inside the church.

Jacki Smith, director for Children and Youth ministry, has served with the program since June 2007. Jacki has a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Auburn University Montgomery. Jacki is married to Joey Smith and they have two children, Hunter and Christian. Smith, directed the entire Wednesday night Halloween activity along with the help of her daughter Hunter, and Brad Mann. Hunter Smith Davis and Brad Mann are student ministry shepherds.

“Our church rallied together to make sure our children had everything they need for this event. The choir, praise band, and the adult Bible study helped passed out candy for all of the children,” said Smith. There was plenty of candy given out to the children and they had an amazing time at this event.
