SPECIAL TO THE EAN
Nick of Thyme, a gourmet oil and vinegar shop, is located off of Company Street in Downtown Wetumpka. During April of last year when many businesses were not sure of the direction of their business due to Covid-19, Nick of Thyme was born.
Nicky Godwin, the owner of Nick of Thyme, was spending a lot of time at home during the pandemic. When she noticed that the vacant store space, which now holds her shop, was for rent, she immediately reached out to the landlord.
“I had no idea what I wanted to do with the space at the time, I just knew that I really wanted it,” she said.
During this time Nicky and her husband took a trip out of town and came upon an oil and vinegar shop. That was when Nicky fell in love and knew that is what she wanted to do with the shop in Wetumpka. She called the owners of the shop she had visited while on her trip, asked them how they got started, and what her next steps would be.
They put Nicky in contact with their supplier, and she attended an in-depth virtual training and received certification from her supplier in Oakland, California.
The design of the store is so clean, crisp, and refreshing. Inside you can find authentic, flavored olive oils such as butter flavored, Tuscan Herb, or garlic. You can also find flavored balsamic vinegars as well such as white and dark balsamic. All the oils and vinegars are rotated out each month and are all imported from overseas.
There are also other knickknacks such as pastas, rubs, and seasonings you can get throughout the store. Nick of Thyme is located at 112 Company Street in Wetumpka. They are open from 10 to 5 Monday through Saturday. They are closed on Sundays.
