Sexual Assault Investigation and Subsequent Investigation
Earlier this month the Millbrook Police Department received a delayed complaint with regard to the possible sexual assault of a minor. During the initial investigation it was discovered that there was a second victim, who was also determined to be a minor. Upon completion of the initial investigation it was determined that probable cause was sufficient and warrants of arrest were obtained against the alleged offender.
On September 17, 2021, detectives with the Millbrook Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit placed Daniel Sexton, a 23-year-old Millbrook resident, under arrest for (2) counts of Sodomy 1st Degree, Rape 1st Degree and Facilitating the Travel of a Child for an Unlawful Sex Act. Sexton was processed and transported to the Elmore County Jail, where he was placed into custody under a $240,000.00 bond. He has since made bond and been released.
We are still actively investigating this case. We are limited with regard to the information that we can release at this time due to the fact that both victims are minors, as well as the fact that the offenses alleged in this case are of a sexual nature. These are very serious charges and the fact that the victims are both minors, with one being a person with special needs, makes this case even more reprehensible. I can assure you that our investigators have and will continue to investigate this case utilizing all the resources and partnerships with law enforcement and social services that are at our disposal to ensure that we present the best case possible to the Elmore county District Attorney’s Office. No one should be subjected to sexual assault, especially a minor child.
