The Autauga County Board of Education held a special meeting on Monday September 20th and after briefly discussing routine business went into an executive session.

The session lasted for about 45 minutes during which only board members, legal counsel and Superintendent Timothy Tidmore were allowed to be present.

After the board returned to regular session a vote was taken to expel a student from Autaugaville School for a period of 30 days. The student’s name and the reason for the expulsion were not made public but the decision was unanimous. After completing 30 days in alternative school the board will decide whether or not to allow the student to return.

Elsewhere in the meeting the board discussed employee supplements and one year contracts for 35 employees that are not currently STEM certified. Superintendent Tidmore said , “We are just cleaning up some things” and board member Jim Manderson said of the 35 employees, “Sounds like a win-win for everybody.”
