Krab Kingz of Prattville Addresses Higher Prices, Service Issues

To Our Valued Customers,

We’d like to thank you for being a valued customer. As you know, these are difficult times for any business, especially restaurants. We pride ourselves in providing fast and friendly service of high quality seafood that everyone can enjoy. In doing so, we price our menu with very low margins but enough to cover our overhead and to pay our staff well. Recently, you may have noticed a sharp price increase in our crab items. Please understand that this was a difficult decision to make. Since our opening, the price we pay for crab has almost doubled. In order to get the best deal we can, we source from four different vendors and the prices are consistent between all of them. There is no volume discount for crab at the moment. We pay the same prices you see in the stores ($17.00 – $20.00 per pound). We had hoped that this was a temporary hike and we kept our prices low, taking a loss for the past two months. Truthfully, we have not taken any ownership profit and have actually been subsidizing our business with personal funds to make sure that our staff are paid the high wages they deserve. Our market research revealed that the prices won’t be coming down any time soon, as the State of Alaska has imposed a cease of King Crab fishing in Alaskan waters.

We expect the Snow Crab prices to continue to go up, as King Crab becomes increasingly expensive or unavailable. For this reason, we made substantial investments in additional equipment to be able to provide you with cheaper options (Our fried menu and the turkey neck). We know that people love our brand, they love our food. We appreciate the love and believe it’s only fair to work with you on providing food that is affordable. We are committed to readjusting our prices to be more affordable when the prices come back down. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your understanding.

It has also come to light that some of our staff have not been upholding our company values and in turn, you may have had a negative experience when visiting our store. One of our managers had not been holding true to our operating hours and has not been welcoming to ALL of our customers.  Also, one of our kitchen staff simply did not care about the quality and portion sizes of the food that they were serving. Customers are welcome to complete orders until closing time (updated to 8:00PM) and are also welcome to dine-in for a reasonable time after closing to enjoy while staff performs after hours duties.

While we would love to closely monitor the restaurant operations, we cannot be there all the time since we both still work our full-time jobs and we are expecting a baby any day now. We entrusted these persons to carry out our mission and it turns out that they did not. Upon learning of this negligent behavior, we immediately removed them from our staff and promoted a couple of people that really do care about the success of our business as well as our customers’ experience. We have spent the past couple days reaching out to customers personally to apologize for their bad experience but we know that there are some that we just don’t know about. Allow us to extend our deepest apologies if we missed you.
