Video Update on the Fields at Seventeen Springs in Millbrook: A lot Going on Behind the Scenes

BY SARAH STEPHENS, ELMORE/AUTAUGA NEWS

VIDEO FROM ELMORE COUNTY COMMISSION

For travelers along Hwy. 14 in Millbrook, they may be completely unaware of the work happening just behind the tree line. This video will give you an excellent look of what is happening regarding the 17 Springs project.

A lot of preliminary work, preparation and clearing has already started. Other committees are working on specific of what this facility will look like, and what it will offer. The former junkyard has been cleared of vehicles and buildings are coming down. Bids are being let for work that will include the recreational aspects of the project.

In the video (see link below), Gary Cobbs gives an overview of work being done. Cobbs is the President/CEO of the Greater Montgomery YMCA.

Five entities have joined together including the Greater YMCA/Grandview Family YMCA, City of Millbrook, Elmore County Commission, Elmore County Board of Education and Elmore County Economic Development Authority.

“In my 26 years with the YMCA I have learned that partnerships of this caliber are rare. I truly believe that this partnership and this complex will be a model for others to follow around the country,” Cobbs said.

Closer to fall as the project moves forward everyone will begin to see the complex become a reality.

Phase 1 – Will be completed by Fall of 2022. It will include four full size multi-purpose turf fields, one multi-purpose grass field, 12 tennis courts with elevated viewing platforms, 12 pickle ball courts, a four-acre pond and restroom facilities.

Other phases in the future will include a competition level football field and stadium, a massive field house and indoor recreational facility and much more. We will have more information on that in future articles. Make sure to view the video link below of the overall project.

This video featuring work currently being done provides an update on the progress at the Seventeen Springs project for the week of August 17, 2021. Any questions related to the Seventeen Springs project should be sent to Richie Beyer at wrbechd@elmoreco.org.
