On Aug. 13 an assault investigation in Prattville led to the arrest of Michael Lynn Slayton, 58, of Prattville. The original charge was for assault first-degree, but that has now been upgraded to Murder, according to Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson.
The reported victim in this case has passed away due to injuries from the assault investigators believe. Investigators obtained a murder warrant this afternoon. Authorities have not yet released the name of the female victim at this time.
The original call was to the area of 257 Hwy. 82 Bypass East. The victim was transported to Baptist South for emergency medical treatment, but she did not survive. Slayton remains in the Autauga County Metro Jail, but now facing a murder charge and $250,000 cash bond.
This case is still under investigation Chief Thompson said.
