EDITOR’S NOTE: This is the announcement of the verdict, but a full story on coverage of the trial will be forthcoming.
A Millbrook man who was on trial this week facing attempted murder charges was found guilty by an Elmore County Jury of a lesser included offense of Assault 1st-degree.
Angelo D. Myles, 35 at the time of the incident, was accused of shooting his neighbor on Oak Tree Road in Millbrook multiple times April 17, 2020. While the victim, Ryan Fales, survived the attack, he has undergone multiple surgeries since that time, and will require more surgeries in the future.
Sentencing for Myles will be Oct. 14 at 8:30 a.m. at the Elmore County Judicial Building. Per sentencing guidelines, Myles could face from two to 20 years in prison for the class B felony. Assistant District Attorney Mandy Johnson prosecuted the case. At sentencing in October the DA’s office will push for the full 20-year sentence, Johnson told the EAN.
Jurors heard testimony beginning Thursday and began deliberations late that afternoon. They broke for the night, and continued deliberations this morning. The verdict came in shortly after noon before Judge Bill Lewis.
Myles was taken from the courtroom in handcuffs.
We will have much more information on this trial as reporter Andrew Edwards covered the trial.
