ELMORE/AUTAUGA NEWS

One minute parents are burping their babies and in the blink of an eye those babies are seniors in high school.

So it was today, as Elmore County schools are back in session. For the seniors, this is their last FIRST day of High School. The memories are being made that will last a lifetime.

Sunday evening some of the SEHS senior class gathered in the student parking lot. Student drivers are assigned their own personal space. They were allowed to use chalk to personalize that space. Thank you to Lea Berkstresser, a teacher at SEHS, for providing us with the photos of that event.

Bright and early this morning, the SEHS Seniors gathered at Kid’s Kingdom at Village Green for the annual senior photo on the playground, a safety briefing and then the traditional Senior Parade to school led by the Millbrook Police Department.

May all of our students and staff at area schools have a blessed and safe school year. May the memories be beautiful enough to last a lifetime.

Take it from someone who had their last, first day of high school 35 years ago. Time flies, so don’t blink. Take the photos and videos and keep the memories close. While you may be counting the days until you graduate, I promise you, there will be times you would give just about anything for one more day back in school with your friends and teachers.
