The rain was not going to stop the City of Prattville from holding their first of four 2021 Creekwalk Concerts, especially after a summer like 2020’s – when the event was cancelled.
After moving the start time back to 7:00 p.m., Heritage Park came alive to the sounds of old and new rock and alternative music provided by local band Outside the Inside.
Those hungry had the chance to eat at the food truck, which served chicken wraps, hot pretzels, nachos, hot dogs, lemonade, and more. It was food worthy of a summer night concert.
“It’s great to be able to get back out here and celebrate the Creekwalk Concert Series. You can tell that people were ready to leave their homes and interact with one another in some form or fashion,” said Barbara Simpson, Cultural Arts and Special Events Coordinator for the City of Prattville.
Families came out in droves, lining the park with lawn chairs. Children ran around, dogs were barking and the atmosphere resembled normalcy once again.
“It’s great to see everyone out here tonight,” said Mayor Bill Gillespie. “I hope we can all enjoy ourselves as we kick off the Creekwalk Concert Series. There’s a lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make sure that this happens.”
The Creekwalk Concert Series will take place the second and fourth Tuesday of June and July. If you missed Tuesday night, you still have three more chances to come out and enjoy the sights and sounds of Historic Downtown Prattville.
Each event starts at 6:30 p.m., pending weather, and are free and open to the public. The remaining schedule can be viewed below.
June 22 – The Alex Walker Band
July 13 – The John Bull Band
July 27 – Wesley Dennis
