AUBURN UNIVERSITY, Ala. ¬– Elmore County 4-H member Rachel Allen was recently selected to serve Alabama 4-H as a 2021-2022 state ambassador. The members that serve in this role each year represent and lead the organization statewide, assisting with 4-H clubs and youth council meetings throughout the club year.
Allen stated, “A large part of my identity is that I get to help people and better myself. I am excited to grow and learn with every issue I face. Now being a 4-H State Ambassador, I am looking forward to making an impact-statewide and local.”
While serving as a state 4-H ambassador, Allen will have the opportunity to develop their skills in leadership, citizenship, public relations and team building.
“Rachel has been a joy to teach in 4-H. She is always ready to take on leadership roles and give to her community. I am very excited to see her in a state ambassador role for 4-H” stated Laurie Weldon, 4-H Foundation Regional Extension Agent.
Katrina Mitchell, County Extension Coordinator, stated “Rachel saw the opportunity 4-H had to offer with leadership and in our community. We are excited to see how she has worded to build a resume of leadership and service that will represent Elmore County locally and on a statewide level.”
Joy Scott, an Alabama Extension 4-H leadership and citizenship specialist serves as an advisor to the state ambassadors. She is excited to see the displays of leadership and citizenship that these members will show throughout the upcoming year.
“The 4-H ambassadors have an outstanding impact in the local, regional and state 4-H program,” Scott said. “Each state ambassador brings a special talent and leadership component to the program.”
