The Millbrook Chamber of Commerce has been hot on the trail, promoting businesses and ensuring that citizens of the community are adequately networked.

Since starting her position as Chamber of Commerce Executive Director in early April of this year, Brenda Dennis has been working vigilantly to bring together the businesses of Millbrook. In fact, in the short amount of time that she’s held the position, Dennis has helped to secure five new members to be a part of the chamber – a feat that she does not entirely credit to herself.

Still, Dennis is not one to focus on numbers. It’s all about the opportunities that she provides to the Millbrook area.

“Our goal is to bring together as many of our businesses as possible and help them network for the future. We want to provide a platform for them, so that their voices can be heard,” Dennis said. “It’s important to implement things that will be beneficial to our members – things that make them proud to be a part of the chamber.”

Several networking opportunities are on the horizon in Millbrook, as a meet and greet with U.S. Representative Barry Moore is set to take place, though the chamber, on June 2nd.

“Every community has been through a lot the past year, and our businesses need to be brought together with the kind of leadership that Representative Moore illustrates,” Dennis said.

Dennis explained that state and local leaders have been invited to attend.

“It’s all about providing that opportunity to bring people together – to be accessible to one another,” Dennis said.

Other networking opportunities will also be available in the future, Dennis explained. That includes their “morning coffee” events, which the chamber hopes to have on the ground running by August of this year.

“Our morning coffee events will give business owners a chance they talk about who they are and what they do,” Dennis said.

Dennis said that the chamber also hopes to eventually have after hours meet and greets. She is currently working to revamp the chamber’s ambassador program, giving it more structure.

“We have awesome, awesome businesses here that are doing truly great things. One of our jobs at the chamber is to see those things and to make sure the rest of the community knows what they’re doing,” Dennis said.

Through it all, Dennis wanted to express her excitement about the relationships that she’s formed as Executive Director.

“We’re so, so excited about the city and chamber working together hand and hand. As Seventeen Springs develops and downtown strategies moves along, we’ll work together even more,” Dennis said.

As a reminder, Dennis said that the annual Chamber of Commerce meeting will take place on June 17th at the Alabama Wildlife Federation.
