On May 4, 2021 Central Alabama CrimeStoppers awarded Sergeant Jeremy Thompson with the title of Prattville City Police Department’s 2020 CrimeStopper of the Year.

Central Alabama CrimeStoppers is proud to recognize another 2020 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. This recognition would normally take place in January at our annual luncheon in downtown Montgomery. Unfortunately, the luncheon was cancelled this year due to the Covid-19 restrictions for crowd size. As a result, this year’s participants will be recognized individually with a limited amount of family and friends present.

Criminal Investigations Commander Jeffery S. Hassell wrote, “I would like to nominate Sergeant Jeremy Thompson for the 2020 Central Alabama Crime Stoppers Officer of the Year.  Sergeant Thompson has served as a Police Officer with the Prattville Police Department for a total of 11 years, after having served eight years in the US Navy.  During his service with the Department, he has been assigned to the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigative Division, and is currently assigned to the Criminal Intelligence Unit as a Supervisor and Digital Forensic Examiner.”

Since spearheading the Criminal Intelligence Unit in 2018, Sergeant Thompson continues to fulfill a great need within the City by transforming the Computer/Digital Forensics capabilities of the Prattville Police Department into a highly effective and productive service to not only the Department, but to the entire region.  Through sponsored training courses, grants, and technical knowledge for necessary resources, Sergeant Thompson obtained and outfitted the Department with over $100,000 worth of digital/computer forensic equipment and software to create an environment that facilitates highly effective, expedient and thorough digital forensic examinations for criminal investigations. This includes, but is not limited to, Missing Endangered Persons, Finance/Identity Theft, Fraud/Theft, Arson, Assault, Narcotics, Online Child Sexual Exploitation, Sexual Assault, and Homicide.

To date, he has facilitated, examined and analyzed over 500 digital devices, including computers, laptops, thumb drives, tablets and cellular phones, as well as countless social media accounts and Internet-based information sources.

Sergeant Jeremy Thompson, on behalf of Central Alabama CrimeStoppers we are honored to award you with Prattville Police Department’s 2020 CrimeStopper Officer of the Year Award.

Congratulations,

Tony A. Garrett
