Elmore County Commission Recognizes National Police Week

Just last week when storms hit our area, our police officers, first responders, street departments and utility workers were in full swing, reminding us that it is easy to take their efforts for granted until an emergency occurs. Many of them worked 40 hours without sleep. Now would be a great time to show appreciation for the efforts of area police officers, as this is National Police Week.

National Police Week 2021

From the Elmore County Commission

This week is National Police Week across our country. In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

During National Police Week, the Elmore County Commission would like to thank the brave men and women that work hard to keep our communities safe and remember those law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

This would be a great time to thank an officer, or drop some goodies off to your local police department or sheriff’s office.
