ELMORE/AUTAUGA NEWS

Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson reporting extensive damage in the area of Cobbs Ford and Edgewood, mostly involving downed trees and power lines. There is damage to all three Millbrook hotels within city limits, he said. He is hearing a report of damage to the roof at Bass Pro Shop. His update was canceled when he received another call for service, but we will check back in with him later.

Prattville Chief Mark Thompson said it will be daylight before exact information is available. However, he said numerous trees and powerlines are down. Highpoint Shopping Center was hit pretty hard. Power lines are down behind Belks, and tractor trailers were overturned.

The Cinema 12 Movie theater had extensive damage, he said.

But amazingly, no reports thus far of injuries.

Both Chiefs report a huge problem right now is sightseers driving around to see damage. In fact, our conversation with Chief Thompson was cut short, as he had to deal with a few.

Both said that getting out tonight is a horrible idea, and highly recommend everyone to stay home.

Crews will be out throughout the night clearing debris and restoring power. It is too early to know if any tornadoes were involved at this point. We will leave that to the experts, and share other local media coverage when we can. In this event, it will definitely take a village. Please, stay off of the roadways. PLEASE.

If you have power tomorrow, consider baking some goodies for our local first responders, power crews, etc. They have more than earned it tonight. God bless them.

We will be out in the morning to capture photos. If you have a photo we can use, please email it to editorsarah@yahoo.com.
