From Barbara W. Simpson

Cultural Arts and Special Events

The City of Prattville and the Prattauga Art Guild are excited to host the 16th Annual Youth Art Show in June at the Prattville Creative Art Center and Gallery. Students in grades K-12, take out your paints, crayons, clay or cameras and get creative!

We are ready to show off the artwork that has been created in the past year after we cancelled the show in 2020 due to the COVID19 pandemic. This art show is for students in grades K-12 in Autauga County in public, private, or home school. It also is open to youth who live in Autauga County, take art classes in Autauga County, or have created work in children’s workshops  sponsored by the Prattauga Art Guild and the City of Prattville.

There are six categories for artwork, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media and collage. There are four grade categories: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Award ribbons and participation ribbons will be given in all categories and age groups.

Artwork will be accepted on Friday, May 21, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. and on Saturday, May 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Prattville Creative Art Center at 342 South Chestnut Street in downtown Prattville.

This year we also will have a virtual exhibition which will include all the works in the gallery and works by those who do not feel comfortable getting out in public yet. Those who wish to be a part of the virtual exhibit only, should send digital images of the artwork to barbara.simpson@prattvilleal.gov

More information about submitting digital images is available at prattvilleal.gov or by calling 334-595-0851.

The exhibit will open online on Saturday, May 29, at 2:00 p.m., and awards will be announced at that time. Artwork will be on exhibit online and in the Gallery through June 24. The arts center is open Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
