Merchants’ Alley on the bank of the Coosa River downtown was bustling with shoppers and browsers at the season’s first Community Market Wetumpka on Thursday night.

If you were in the market for a smoked turkey leg for dinner from the Coosa Cleaver, a wreath for your front door, some local honey or treats for your canine friends, you could find these items among the more than 40 vendors who lined the Alley from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Community Market Wetumpka is held the first Thursday of each month, April to November, in downtown Wetumpka and is sponsored by Main Street Wetumpka. Crafters, artists, food vendors, musicians, farmers and many more filled the streets with beautiful sights and sounds and delicious smells.

Those who stopped by the Central Alabama Master Gardeners’ table found free pamphlets on herb gardening, raised bed vegetable gardening, growing tomatoes, soil testing and more.

The Kelly-Kelly Fitzpatrick Memorial Gallery offered a creative art experience for children. They took every day items and turned them into art.
