MILLBROOK POLICE DEPARTMENT
On Thursday morning, March 4, 2021, Millbrook police officers responded to the 4100 block of Abrams Drive with regard to a report of a subject shot. Responding officers located a 27-year-old male, later identified as Lewis Lucas (Millbrook resident), who was suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Lewis was treated at the scene by Millbrook fire rescue personnel and transported to Prattville Baptist Emergency Room. Mr. Lucas was later transferred to Baptist South, where he would later succumb to his injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased following surgery.
Detectives from the Millbrook Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. This case is being conducted as a homicide investigation.
I’ve spoken with our detectives with regard to this case. We are following up on several promising investigative leads at this time. I have directed our Patrol Division to conduct extra patrols in the area where this offense occurred. I want to assure our citizens that this type of senseless violence will not be tolerated in this city. We will do everything in our power to locate and apprehend the person(s) responsible for this senseless death. We feel confident that our investigative unit will be able to solve this case and apprehend the individual(s) responsible.
I also want to warn anyone that may be considering any retaliatory acts in response to today’s events that our officers will be out in force and they will be enforcement minded. We will address any appearance of unrest or retaliatory acts with proactive enforcement of any laws that are violated. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family.

To the individual(s) responsible for this senseless act of violence, I would encourage you to turn yourself in to law enforcement immediately. That is the safest way for both you and law enforcement officers that are now tasked to apprehend you.
