Investigators are still sorting out details, but the Millbrook Police Department has one person in custody after shots were fired from a vehicle on South Main Street in the area of Dollar General earlier this afternoon.
According to Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson, officers were initially called to the Dollar General in regard to an argument. While on scene, officers witnessed a vehicle drive by their area with a person inside of the vehicle firing multiple shots.
Officers immediately pursued that vehicle, a gun has been seized and one person is in custody.
There were no reported injuries to bystanders that have been reported. One vehicle was struck, Chief Johnson said.
Officers could be seen scouring the area around the crime scene for evidence.
Chief Johnson was on scene and helping with the investigation.
“I will say that our officers did an outstanding job, and we are still trying to sort all of this out but we do have a suspect in custody,” Johnson said.
Residents near the crime scene told the EAN that this type of behavior is very frightening, and far too frequent. They said they are hopeful that arrests of anyone involved will be help to bring peace to the area. One man, who we are not identifying, said this is an ongoing issue in that area and relates back to a long-time argument between multiple families.
We will have more information as soon as it is available.
If you have any further information that would help investigators, please contact the Millbrook Police Department.
