Prattville’s ‘A Main Street Christmas Event’ is December 15 in Historic Downtown

From Barbara W. Simpson

Cultural Arts and Special Events

The City of Prattville will be dressed up and ready to greet you and your family and friends at the 5th Annual Main Street Christmas event on Tuesday, December 15, in the historic Downtown District from 5-7:30 p.m. We are excited to partner with the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce and the merchants of downtown again this year for this fun, family-friendly event.

Santa will be visiting by the Christmas tree at Heritage Park and the Autauga Creek spillway. Although children will not be able to sit in Santa’s lap, they will be able to drop off their letters to tell him their Christmas wishes and get some creative pictures beside the antique firetruck and the beautiful Christmas tree! There will be take home ornament kits for children sponsored by the Prattauga Art Guild and readings of T’was the Night Before Christmas by the Way Off Broadway Theatre.

We will have horse-drawn carriage rides again this year, but expect longer waits because rides will be limited to people in the same household.

The Prattville Chamber of Commerce will give away a “Love What’s Local” basket filled with a variety of items from downtown merchants and cash! Get an entry for the prize with receipts from each different store that you visit.

Merchants in the Downtown District will be open late for your Christmas shopping needs and if you are hungry or thirsty, there will be several businesses open for a meal, snack, or beverage.

With all the beautiful lights and decorations, there will be lots of special holiday photo ops throughout the downtown area that are perfect for your Christmas memories.

We will be social distancing and request that visitors wear masks.
