Applications for the Millbrook Police Department’s Operation Blue Santa are available at the police department, and must be returned by Nov. 30.

This annual event helps provide Christmas presents to kids from one to 12-years-old that may otherwise not receive presents.

The Millbrook Police Department, in partnership with American Legion Post 133, Punishers LEMC, Guardian Credit Union, Front Porch Grill, Attic Addict Auctions and WELCOME Inc., will be conducting the Operation Blue Santa Toy Drive now through Dec. 4.

The operation is asking for donations of new, unwrapped toys or gifts for boys and girls. A collection center will be placed in the lobby of the Millbrook Police Department at 3950 Grandview Road, as well as American Legion Post 133 at 4980 Main Street in Millbrook, WELCOME Inc. at 3253 Main Street in Millbrook, Front Porch Grill at 106 Deatsville Highway in Millbrook, Attic Addict Auctions at 4320 Hwy. 14 in Millbrook and Guardian Credit Union at 102 Interstate Ct, in Prattville for the toy/gift drop off.

As for the applications for assistance, they will be processed on a first come first served basis.

Bicycles will be limited in availability and size 20-inch and smaller will be given on a first come, first served basis.

Please, no request for video games, electronics or high dollar items.

“This is something that the entire department looks forward to every year,” Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson said. “This idea was created by Lt. Don Pugh, and it has grown every year.”

For years, Johnson said the department would get together and pick a handful of families that they knew needed help at Christmas. The idea expanded, and each year since its inception, hundreds of children have benefitted from the program.
