Elmore County 4-H Shotgun Team Receives NRA Grant; Program Led by Michael Warren of Wetumpka

BY LAURIE WELDON

SPECIAL TO THE EAN

The Elmore County 4-H Barrel Burners Shotgun team received an NRA grant to purchase shells for youth participants recently.

This grant is an answered blessing to youth participating in the club. It offsets their expenses with shells which are costly to weekly shooters.  The team is led by Michael Warren of Wetumpka. Michael puts a lot of work into coaching 4-H and even pushes himself to be a better shooter.

Just last month Michael participated in the Alabama State Sporting Clays Championship and won the B Class State Champion.

He teaches the kids skills for competition but also skills they will use in a lifetime in communication and etiquette on and off the range. His dedication does not go unnoticed by the local Elmore County Extension Office. They are thankful for him and appreciate his hard work and kindness in the organization as well as in the community.

Michael coaches the local club with Kevin Sansom who is a competitive shooter as well. You can always find the pair sharpening their skills at the Lower Wetumpka Shotgun Sports Club off Lower Wetumpka Road.
