Witches, Frankenstein, Goblins, Super Heroes, and even a Big Fish.

That is just a sampling of the hundreds of kids and their parents who made their way to Coaches Corner in Wetumpka Sunday evening for the inaugural “Alabama Backs the Blue” Trunk or Treat event.

Area agencies, including several first responder organizations, showed up and showed out, loaded down with candy to hand out to the very excited children. A lot of parents joined in on the fun as well, and donned their own costumes.

“I am really excited about the turnout, and we are happy to be able to provide this fun night,” Jessica Colley, organizer of Alabama Backs the Blue said. “Big thanks goes to Coaches Corner for allowing us to use their parking lot, all of the agencies and individuals who came to take part and, of course, the families.”

At the start of the event at 5 p.m. there was already a long line stretching out of the parking lot. A sound system was playing great Halloween Tunes like “Monster Mash” as parents and kids danced together as they headed for the candy loot.

“I think this location worked out great for us, and hopefully we can do it again next year in the same spot,” Colley said. “We hope to grow it every year.”
