Millbrook Council Canvasses Votes, Confirms Winners from Aug. 25 Municipal Election

The Millbrook City Council met Tuesday to canvass election results from the Aug. 25 Municipal Election. No election was held for Ward 3 or Ward 5 as Jimmy Harris and Hal Hodge were unopposed.

The following Resolution 20-55 was passed unanimously.

Canvassing Election Results

Whereas, the general election for the City of Millbrook was duly and legally held on Aug. 25, 2020, as provided by law; and

Whereas, the municipal governing body of the City of Millbrook met this 1st day of September, 2020, a quorum thereof being present at 12:00 p.m., and has canvassed the returns, and has ascertained and determined the number of votes received by each candidate; and

Whereas, the said municipal governing body has ascertained and determined the results of said election as follows:

Mayor

Al Kelley received 1336 ballots, 23 Absentee, 2 Provisional for a total of 1,361.

Tim Love received 654 ballots, 25 Absentee, 4 Provisional for a total of 683.

Councilmember Ward 1

Joyce Loyd-Davis received 101 ballots, 7 Absentee, 3 Provisional for a total of 111.

Jacquelyn Long Thomas received 275 ballots, 21 Absentee, 0 Provisional for a total of 296.

Olivia Venable received 81 ballots, 3 Absentee, 0 Provisional for a total of 84.

Councilmember Ward 2

Michael Gay received 344 ballots, 7 Absentee, 1 Provisional for a total of 352.

Leon L. Pressley received 74 ballots, 0 Absentee, 0 Provisional for a total of 74.

Councilmember Ward 4

Bertha Brown received 121 ballots, 1 Absentee, 0 Provisional for a total of 122.

Justin Jones received 245 ballots, 1 Absentee, 2 Provisional for a total of 248.

Now therefore, bit it resolved by the City County of the City of Millbrook, Alabama, as follows:

*That Al Kelley received a majority of the votes cast for the office of Mayor, and is hereby declared duly elected to that office for the term beginning on the first Monday in November, 2020.

*That Jacquelyn Long Thomas received a majority of the votes cast for the office of Councilmember, Ward 1, and is hereby declared duly elected to that office for the term beginning on the first Monday in November, 2020.

*That Michael Gay received a majority of the votes cast for the office of Councilmember, Ward 2, and is hereby declared duly elected to that office for the term beginning on the first Monday in November, 2020.

*That Justin Jones received a majority of the votes cast for the office of Councilmember, Ward 4, and is hereby declared duly elected to that office for the term beginning on the first Monday in November, 2020.

Done and adopted this 1st day of September, 2020.
