Dr. Jeff Pasley is expanding his practice at Millbrook Family Chiropractic, with not only the addition of square footage for massage therapy but also a new doctor providing new services.
Dr. Barbara Bloomquist joined the practice in March, just prior to the COVID-19 response. She was instrumental in helping Dr. Pasley stay open during that time. She is now helping in a pivotal time for the practice as it starts providing new services.
“Our staff couldn’t remain, but she did,” Dr. Pasley said. “We were able to stay open three days a week until our staff came back in May.”
Both Dr. Pasley and Dr. Bloomquist say that working with each other is just like seeing old friends. Both doctors grew up together from the time they both attended Robinson Springs School until they graduated Stanhope Elmore High School in the class of 1995.
“She had more stars than me and asterisks in the graduation program,” Dr. Pasley laughed. He said she visited the office one day in late January and told him that she was getting her license to practice.
“We discussed the possibility of her shadowing me,” Dr. Pasley said. He said he hired her at the end of February, and she received her license on March 3rd.
Dr. Bloomquist, 43, graduated from the Palmer School of Chiropractic-Florida branch in Daytona. She also has her master’s degree in exercise education. She has extensive knowledge of physiotherapy procedures and rehabilitation. She has worked for many years in the physical therapy field and performs physiotherapeutic procedures for patients under her care.
She also offers nutrition counseling and specialized testing for food sensitivity to assist patients dealing with metabolic and digestive problems. She is now accepting new patient appointments.
Both doctors believe that good care is a combination of spinal adjustments, exercise and movement (active care). “She (Dr. Bloomquist) is helping me deliver care and practice the way I’ve always wanted to practice,” Dr. Pasley said. “It’s like clinical magic.”
The practice also offers massage therapy through the services of Janae’ Moss. Dr. Pasley is acquiring an additional 900 square feet next door to his current practice, primarily for the massage services and the new services offered by Dr. Bloomquist such as functional movement screenings for athletes and nutritional counseling. The total workspace will be 2,400 square feet with the expansion.
Dr. Pasley said his practice has taken all the precautions necessary for patients to avoid close contact with one another. High-risk patients are scheduled at the beginning or end of a schedule to keep them isolated from other patients.
Dr. Bloomquist may be a little busier than usual in a few weeks. Dr. Pasley is about to become a father again. His baby Jake is due in early September. Dr. Pasley and his wife Rebekah also have children Cooper, 7, and Nellie, 3.
Dr. Bloomquist said she is happy to return to her hometown. “I wanted to come back to where I grew up.” She said she loves small town life.
