When Life Hands You a Fallen Tree…Make a Beautiful Heart-Shaped Table; Hand Family of Autauga County is Doing Just That

Into each life a little rain must fall…and sometimes really big trees.

The Hand family of Autauga County, near Boone’s Chapel, is making the most of the situation, after storms toppled a large tree in their yard a few days ago. The tree was uprooted and could not be saved. When workers came to begin removing the tree, they noticed the unusual design in the stump that forms an almost perfect heart.

So, while life handed the Hand family lemons, they are making lemonade out of the experience. Thanks to a woodworker, they will also get a beautiful heart-shaped table out of the deal as well.

“I want to thank Mr. Jim from Old River Sawmill (check out his work at Pickers Antiques) for coming and taking a slab from the tree, with the heart shape to make me a table. I am so excited, but I will have to have patience, we are looking at possibly a year,” Sheryl Hand said. “But I am not going anywhere! He also took the other smaller slab, to see which one would work the best. He knows what he is doing!”
